Overview

The historical backfill of the statusgroup column on the BI Connector 2.0 (Redshift) tables is complete in both the US and EU regions, covering the standard reporting tables for the period from January 1, 2020 onwards, with a small number of exceptions called out below.

For what statusgroup is, how its values are derived, and the per-table mapping, see Status Group.

Scope

The backfill covers the BI Connector 2.0 Redshift tables in the EU and US. statusgroup is a reporting-warehouse column and does not exist in the LMS or in the platform API. Records with timestamps before January 1, 2020 are out of scope and will not have statusgroup populated.

Exceptions

Tables excluded from the historical backfill due to size

The following three tables were too large to backfill historically and have statusgroup populated going forward only, on records created or updated from approximately mid-2025 onwards. Records before that point will have statusgroup as null:

  • courseactions
  • quizattempts
  • quizattemptresponses

Records with no creation or update timestamp

statusgroup is set on a record from its createdat and updatedat timestamps. A small subset of historical records exist in the database with no createdat or updatedat timestamp at all (mostly very old records from earlier system migrations), so there is no timestamp to drive statusgroup, and those rows currently appear with statusgroup as null.

Residual rows with null statusgroup

On some otherwise-complete tables, a very small number of rows may still appear with statusgroup as null in narrow, isolated windows. These are known and are being worked on.
